I am completely ok with paying for Premiere Pro and possibly even the paid version of Resolve if I feel it is the better route. Not sure if this changes duration or complication for transcoding the media for editing. I have trimmed the fat with my footage but still have around 150 clips I intend on using. The video I am working on is of a wedding I did pro bono with the understanding from the couple that this was basically a practice run for me in both videography and editing. Am I better off starting with Premiere Pro and is there an easier workflow with that to create and use proxies? I've read about proxies for editing, although I did try the optimized media route I'm not completely certain I succeeded with the process.Ĭan someone point me in the right direction as I am a complete noob? (Previous videos I have made have all been with a gopro and the quik app on mobile). Only thing I could think is maybe a faster SSD? I opened the task manager to observe the load during playback and nothing is even close to peaking in performance. This seems to play back fairly easy in Premier Pro with very slight lag.

Also video was mostly taken in 1080p 60fps (although 30fps lags also).

Video is taken from a G85 with MP4 so of course the output is h264 which understandably is a terrible editing format. I bought this specifically because everyone was raving about it for editing. I am facing the same issue here with my Dell XPS 9570 i9.

need help as my videos are slightly lagging in Resolve. You can also get up to 4TB of storage, so this is an incredibly powerful machine for video editing.Hello all. The XPS 15 is available with up to an Intel Core i9-11900H, a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card, and a whopping 64GB of RAM. However, you can be as wild as you want to be here.

You also get at least 512GB of storage this way, so you can store a few more video files. This gives you an 8-core CPU, a powerful graphics card (even if it’s not top-of-the-range), and a solid amount of RAM to boot. If you want this to be a video editing rig, we recommend upgrading to the Intel Core i7-11800H processor, along with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and 16GB of RAM. This base configuration also only has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, so it’s not ideal. This will be more important if you’re working with 4K video though. This being a 6-core CPU means it’s not too shabby already, but you may suffer from not having a dedicated GPU as well. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. From the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. The base configuration of this laptop includes an Intel Core i5-11400H CPU without a dedicated CPU. To access the System log select the keyboard shortcut Win+R, type eventvwr.msc and press the ENTER key. Thankfully yes, the Dell XPS 15 meets all of these requirements - as long as you pick the right configuration. Does the Dell XPS 15 have what I need for video editing?
